Thirty Two Things I’ve LearnedSeptember 7, 2013
‘If you knew, without a doubt, that your dream was going to come true within three weeks, would you prepare in any way? What would you do?’
That was the question I posted on my Facebook page a few days ago.
The response was so interesting and many of the answers hinted at the kind of dreams people had, as well as the enormous gratitude they would feel and express! Wonderful and so uplifting!
But equally fascinating were those who said they would panic and not know what to do, and I couldn’t help but wonder how many of us are more scared of GREAT things happening than we care to admit? How many of us are truly more frightened of success than failure? We may say we want this, that and the other, but then we put the brakes on because we wonder if we could really handle it truly happening… or if we really deserve to live our dreams at all!
I believe that for the most part, our lack of faith and/or feelings of worthiness are at the crux of all our questions. If we REALLY knew that we are entirely worthy of having it all then, I’m sure we would. In Divine Timing.
That’s not to say that we are in control of everything that occurs in our often challenging, mysterious lives, but what can we do to bridge that gap? What changes can we make in our lives NOW if we knew our dream was arriving? Would we work on treating ourselves more kindly? Would we make a start on clearing out our old clothes, sorting out our paperwork? Would we buy something that we have always wanted? Would we make that call we’ve always wanted to make? Would we ask for help? In other words, what we would STOP procrastinating about? What would suddenly become a priority rather than something that didn’t really matter?
And how, too, would we act if we KNEW we could not be disappointed? I know there’s often a little voice in my head that prevents me from feeling the full joy of anticipation, for fear that it might not actually happen, and decides that if I don’t expect anything then I cannot be hurt if it doesn’t. But that voice cannot have power over me now. It may feel ‘safer’ but I’ve come to realize that all the best things require some risk and I refuse to let the past define my future.
Believe me, I’m not writing this because I have it all worked out. I am a work in progress too, of course! But I look back at the extraordinary things that have occurred in my life and while some of them seemed ‘out of the blue’, many of them were because (as I’ve said in previous blogs), I acted as if it was already happening. And there has never been a more powerful way for the Universe to respond than that!
And even when Divine Timing comes into play and there are just a few more pieces of the puzzle to fall into place that we can’t yet see, being thankful and filled with excitement, being open to all the magical possibilities ahead, is surely a far more joyful way to live our lives than the alternative, isn’t it?
As I type this I hear the Angels whisper in my ear:
Do you want to know the best part? If you live your life with an open heart, with this kind of joy, then it always turns out to be greater than you ever imagined anyway!
With much love from the Angels… and me,
